I feel you on icons like this. Half the time I blend things together, it looks pretty good on 200x200, and then I resize down, and WOW TERRIBLE. Not that this is terrible, honestly. I like it! You could probably layer up some light blobs/textures on the 100x100 version and make something out of it, I think. Don't give up on it just yet!!
