Some of the icons were made for flash challenges (cough cough animangavgflash) and icontests (vgicontest and others were just ones I made on the side. Enough jabbering, though.

I really liked DDS1, it had a cool aesthetic to it and I was always wanting to know more...DDS2 on the other hand, I felt kinda went off the deep end of craziness. While the whole "the sun is evil" idea was really cool, I was rather disappointed by the fact that the Junkyard was just a bunch of AIs created by Sera. I actually never finished DDS2 ^^; Got to the final level and just quit.

I love symbolism in games (one of the many reasons I love Persona 3 and 4) but DDS was just insane with it, lol.

Argilla was my favorite character, though, and I loved the relationship/arc between her and Jinana.

Yeah, DDS1 was awesome. At first I was sort of put off by the colour palette (which is a stupid reason, but it was SO grey and I hadn't any idea of what I was getting into at first since it was my first SMT game) but then it just had the most awesome story! I agree with you about DDS2 though, plus it was just SO emotionally draining for me and I could not deal.

Argilla was lovely! I really adored Heat and Gale too.

That was your first MegaTen game? XD What an introduction. I started out with P3, and DDS was still pretty shockingly dark. It was an incredibly grey game, which I didn't like at first, but it made the few colors that were there really pop, so I grew to love it after a while. Though the Persona series has spoiled me a bit for the rest of the MegaTen games... I love Shigenori Soejima's art design more than probably any other game artist, so Kazuma Kaneko's work looks really boring in comparison.

DDS2 is like...someone decided that it needed to be a Sad Game, even by MegaTen standards. There were already demons and a godawful apocalypse and shocking revelations about characters, did we really need to watch everyone die in the most horrible ways possible?

Heat was awesome! That was one of my gripes about DDS2, that they replaced him with Roland. And I liked Gale, but I couldn't listen to him talk without hearing Vincent Valentine or Oghren or a variety of other Steve Blum characters. I love the man, but he needs to take a break from voice acting for a while, 'cause he is in everything.

Haha, it was. I got P3 soon after which was much more easy to cope with. Still, it was probably better than playing P4 as a first SMT game and then suddenly going from that to a super dark game like DDS or Nocturne! False expectations much.

I realllly love the Persona art, plus there's always so much more of it! Scans galore of all sorts of promo artwork, whereas with DDS there's basically just character designs and then like one promo image if I want to make icons. I have in game caps but they are sooo dark that it's impossible to do anything nice with them! It's a shame that it doesn't have more visually interesting stuff to make graphics from.

I KNOW IT WAS JUST THE MOST HEARTBREAKING THING. It's been ages since I've even thought about DDS2 but now it's all coming back and ohhhh. :(

I agree! Like I know you can get Heat back at the end if you do everything right but still, he's missing for so long and yet he's such an important character! I agree with you about Gale's voice though, it's like Steve Blum has this insane quota that he needs to fill every year for voice roles. But still, I just loved it when everybody else in the party was getting all emotional and he'd be standing there, arms folded, going, "I do not comprehend."

P4 is so light-hearted compared to every other MegaTen game ever. XD Reasonably sure it's the first one with an honest-to-goodness happy ending. P3 is a nice middle ground, what with the bittersweet ending and the creepiness of Tartarus.

I actually own Nocturne, but I'm sort of scared to play it. XD; Since I hear that DDS is Nocturne, only easy mode, and I had some difficulty with DDS...

One of my aspirations is to someday own Shigenori Soejima's art book (http://otaku.com/products/30204). Simply because I love his art so much. And yeah, he does so much promo art and stuff, it's fabulous.

I was on Steve Blum's IMDB page the other day, and I think he already has like 12 voice credits for video games in 2012. Man never met a job he didn't like. And Troy Baker's getting pretty up there, too. But yeah, Gale made a very good straight man in all that, balancing out everyone else's crazy emotions -- but then when he did get emotional, it was super powerful.

It so is! That game is ridiculously happy. You should play Nocturne though, just have a guide alongside you so that you can't make any mistakes since it gets soooo hard. I've not actually managed to play it myself yet (really need to buy it while it's still cheap since the price of it fluctuates so much here) but I've read through an entire screenshot Let's Play so I know what happens and it's SUCH a good game.

Oh wow, the bits that I've seen from that book up on minitokyo are soooo beautiful, I kind of want it myself now.

That's absolutely ridiculous! But then there are more than a few voice actors who do the same thing, or even several roles in one game. I remember when I was playing Cross Edge (which was an awful game) and there was one scene where there were about three different instances of Yuri Lowenthal talking to each other in one cutscene.

I've not played Catherine, unfortunately. I know about it, but I've not got around to buying it yet (didn't help that it came out so much later here than everywhere else so by the time it was released it wasn't on my mind) I hear it's really weird though.

Nocturne's definitely on my to-do list, I'm just sort of apprehensive about it. XD And guides are a definite must.

Yuri Lowenthal is just ridiculous sometimes. And Liam O'Brian, who played Akihiko, does literally half of the male voices in Fallout: New Vegas, both of random NPCs and named characters. It really made me want to replay P3P, lol.

Catherine is definitely weird. I would actually advise just finding a good Let's Play and watching it, as it's pretty short (15ish hours?) and the replay value isn't very good. (I watched two different people beat it, taking two different tracks, and there was very little difference. =/) It's pretty, though! And the bosses are genuinely frightening! And there is one ending out of the eight that is just so balls-to-the-wall crazy that it's hilarious, but all the others pretty much suck.
