WE DID IT YOU GUYS. WE FINALLY GOT THERE. Here are the results of our animanga battle! Man, once the icons started to roll in I got really excited about making this post, but that was pretty much dampened when I started trying to code it. Sorry it's not beautifully laid out, but I'm sure the icons will make up for it!

I'VE PROBABLY MADE A BUNCH OF MISTAKES SO LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS.

I'm so into the dark colors and texture work of your entire set! The first icon I picked out is so neat, I love the composition and the lighting choices you've made! The blue coloring is really lovely. The second one is just text porn and I love how you've used red not just in this icon but in so many of the icons in this set! And that b/w icon, wooow, I love everything about the composition and the text, the b/w is perfection in it, too!

Your text use is so brave and well-done, I'm really in awe! Good job! In the first icon I picked out, I just love the way the dark background you've picked out makes her pop and the layered way you have the text interacting with the subject. It's really eyecatching! The second one I picked out is my favorite of your whole batch, I think, it's just so understatedly elegant. I love the black and white vs color and the soft lighting, and the text at the bottom makes the whole thing balanced! And the last one is just super cool, I love the strong lightning and the cap you chose is perfect because even in black and white against a busy background, the smile stands out!

You compositions always destroy me and this set is no different! I love the color palette you've created in the first icon, the yellows and greens are so rich and mysterious! And I love your work in the second, it can be really hard to make a RL background look like it fits with a drawn subject but you've managed it completely and I'm in awe! And I love the last icon, the warm lighting and duplication of the texture makes it really interesting to look at, I love how centered it is around the subject in a way that's busy but not chaotic.

I really love the delicate style you've been cultivating, it's so pretty and really suited to especially the more shoujo subjects you choose, though it looks great with all of them! I love the coloring in the first icon, that green-blue with a bit of mint in the middle is so pretty and I love how you've blended the two images together, really cool! And the second icon, wooow, the cropping is amazing, the text work is perfect, the coloring and lightning is completely dreamy… I adore this icon so much! I really love the bits of purple that seep in at the bottom. But my favorite icon of yours is definitely the third one, holy cow! The coloring, the composition, literally everything about it is perfection. It's so pretty and delicate!

I could live to be 100 and never get over how much I adore your coloring! That first icon is amazing, it's so inspiring to me! I love the black vs the color section, how bright it is and just everything about it, it's so amazingly creative! And the Pluto icon, wow, I love the color palette and the lighting so much, and the text is awesome! And the last icon, wooow. I swear, whenever you make an icon that is mainly all one color, you go all out and blow me away. I love the richness of the colors and how you've used the texture so much, it's so gorgeous!

I love how much depth you always manage to bring out in your animanga icons through shading, it's so impressive! That first icon is just perfect composition, I really like what you've done with the background especially because it is simple but has enough little things going on that it is never boring! And I'm super into the second icon, so creepy and awesome, I love how you have the purples at the top and the reds at the bottom, so good! The third icon is my favorite of yours, I love how dark it is with the lighting mainly to the side, it looks really cool, and I really love how you have the florals in the circle behind her instead of the whole thing, it just makes the icon stand out in a really neat way!

*write an entire book entitled Katy: How Do You Do the Thing* Seriously though, your icons amaze me, they are so unique and you cover so many different styles with ease. I love the first icon so much, the tans versus the yellow and the blending, its just so cool! And the second icon looks so simple but it is sooo stunning, I love how warm it is and the lighting is so nice. And the last icon is just so incredibly composed, I love how you've used the text as such a big part of the composition and the yellows~!

Your compositions are ridiculously perfect! I'm so glad you posted a bigger version of the blending icon the other day, I love getting to see behind the scenes of people who are so good at composition c: I lovelovelove the first icon here, the dark purple coloring is amazing and I adore how you've used the text and the upside-down subject! And the second icon *fans self* the b/w on the color background is amazing, I love how clean the b/w section is! And the last icon is just sooo pretty, I love the slight rotation and the colors look so nice together!

Well, first of all, how dare you with these amazing compositions and colorings! That first icon is just so gorgeous, I love whenever you work with white on red, and I love how I discover more and more about the composition the longer I look! The second icon is my favorite, I love how pale it is and the text work is so perfect, I just love it completely! And that third icon just blows me away, I love how complex it is and the different colors! I really love how you have the cap of her looking back in the middle, it stands out perfectly!

I love how cohesive every single one of your icons feels, with the coloring and lightning always perfectly attuned to the subject. The first icon I picked out is so cool, I love the curl of the text so that it fits the image and the reds vs purples with just little hints of orange/yellow! The second icon is my favorite, I love how you've used red in the text and the subject to create this complete mood, it is so cool! And that third icon is so pretty and happy, I love your texture work and how many different shades you've used!

1. The balance of the composition and typography is lovely. Reds are so hard to work with, especially when there's red text, but you did a beautiful job keeping things clean.
2. I'm super picky about b&w, so usually b&w icons aren't my faves, but you've done an amazing job with not only the lighting, but also drawing the eye in with those textures :3
3. Blue bias or not... I am in love with everything about this... the colors, that light texture coming down the middle is such a wonderful touch that ties everything together... the movement with the typography... the use of textures without going too gritty... I could go on and on XD

2. The fun way you incorporated numbers is so pretty, and yet the focus is still totally on the character, which can be hard, so great job <3
3. I love the depth you got from the icon as a whole. The floral background is really used to its best advantage without taking over the whole icon, and the composition with the character in the center is super cute <3
1. Coming back to talk properly. WOW. The use of that texture looks so amazing on the off-white background. The coloration is flawless, the pop of gold near the top keeps it from getting too dark... plus it has a bit of an autumn vibe to it, which totally works. The way the character bleeds into the texture a little bit is such a cool effect, and the way you colored the typography is a nice touch because it's visible without interrupting the flow of the icon. In other words... I seriously love this icon.

1. This icon is pretty much flawless. Your use of textures here is really amazing, I'm totally drawn into the icon the more I look~ And keeping the palette limited to just two colors was so smart because the focus is clear and clean.
2. The composition is fearless and beautiful! I just love the layered effect of the different elements :3
3. The mild use of sepia tone on the characters is such a cool way of drawing the eye in, and allowing them to stand out against such a detailed background. The overall icon has a "nostalgia" vibe to it, which is automatically very endearing.

2. I pretty much just love it all. The coloring is lovely, the use of textures is right on, the composition is really cool, and the typography looks so elegant with just the first letters in the required font <3

1. The gentle use of lighting is an absolutely lovely touch, paired with the sepia-gold coloring... you've captured "angelic" right there in that icon... I LOVE it.
2. The colors are amazing... so vivid and deep, and the composition has such great flow the way you've allowed everything to spread across your little 100 pxl canvas. :3
3. If I haven't told you yet already, I am in love with your use of sepia/natural colors. This is just another masterpiece, the way you used the provided texture is a great way of adding depth, and yet you've kept a lightness that keeps the icon as a whole very elegant and ladylike <3

1. I love the way the text looks in this icon as a decorative element, and the soft purple coloring has a nice airy feel to it that I adore~
2. The atmosphere of this icon is so perfectly somber and serene <3 The minimal approach to the icon has been pulled off perfectly. Everything flows perfectly without losing any of depth or attention to detail.
3. The glowy effects are so pretty, and I love that they're echoed in the typography as well!

1. The movement in this icon is pretty much amazing... a whirlwind of pink, and text, and somehow it all comes together and looks awesome. My mind is blown.

3. The soft coloring, the use of text, the subtle use of textures, the adorable frame in the center... I love EVERYTHING.

1. Purple... and teal... part of me feels like those colors should not look so great next to each other, but I'm going to take it somewhere and quietly dispose of it right now. The coloration really is amazing, and the composition is really fun too :3
2. I love the freshness of the overall icon. The match of the clean composition along with the bright colors are just perfection~
3. YOU CAN MAKE DARK ICONS? I am so jealous. The mildly gritty background is beautiful, and picks up the coloring beautifully! Making it an upside down icon was a nice touch with the choice of lyrics as well <3

1. I don't know if I can even explain why I like this, but it's awesome. The combination of colors is pretty neat, but I think it's the foreground-background effect of the typography and silhouette on top of the cap that is drawing me the most. It has such a unique layered effect that I just love!
2. The subtle use of texture in the back adds a fun element to this icon, and the typography set behind the character and swords(?) looks really amazing.
3. The heavy use of textures is so perfectly balanced with the overall light palette. The yellow elements are also very fun, and keep things interesting as well.

1. Oooh, what a cool way to do the blending! I'm also loving the chaotic feel of the typography, the way you scattered it all at the bottom like that~
2. Adding highlighted words to the typography was such a cool way of making it pop. I also love the way the red pops against the neutral colors you used for the rest of the icon <3
3. A little color bias here, but the teal is so beautifully done, and the lighter green to help lighten it up is a great combination! The typography helps break things up nicely as well, and looks pretty cool looming behind the character :3

1. SO much admiration for you right now. The use of that texture is just about the most amazing thing I've ever seen!
2. You do such beautiful things to pastel, and I adore the use of text in the background, which paired with the silhouette give off a vintage vibe that I really love.
3. The composition here is lovely. Despite the fact that there are a lot of cool colors in this icon, it still has a very warm feel to it with those pops of yellow, and the white.

takonasu

1. I love how the character seems to be interacting with the background <3 Using the single color has a nice, fresh feel as well.
2. The dark, muted colors are really well suited to the creepy aura... I also love how the typography has been treated, adding to the mysterious atmosphere.
3. The bright coloration and combination of colors are nicely executed, and I love the fact that you ROTATED that tree texture. Brilliant.

first of all: holy shit everyone did super amazing I keep going through and look at the post like "I like this one, and this one... and this one and that one..." You could mark this entire post as an inspiration post because like wow (also, thanks to everyone who said nice things about my icons ^u^)

your icons always inspire me, either because of text or color or composition. I love the color and the typography on the first one; working with reds and purples is always hard for me, but you make it seem so effortless ^^ The typography on the sceond one is wicked—I love it! The colors are awesome, too, and the silhouette and it's shadow are perfectly placed as well. And the third on is so simple yet so intricate at the same time??? I would have never thought to do something like that with the provided texture it's so pretty and you the red is like the perfect shade? A++

this first icon as such a sense of motion? I can't explain it but between the text being slanted at an unusual angle, the way the texture's pointing, as well as her sword, it's so cool ♥ I'm in love with the composition of the second icon as well as the orange/yellow and greeny colors (and also Armin ♥) The simplicity of the third icon is so beautiful. I love how it's not fully b/w (at least I don't think?) the croping + composition of the two figures is so well done and the texture use is out of this world as well ^^

love love love the colors in the first one like wow I love blues and greens but they never work that way for me also the composition and contrast betweeth the two fingures is amazing?? like the blue in his wig counter balances the blue on his jacket perfectly?? and the text work is A+ as well ^^ the second one omg I had to think back and go "wait, it wasn't like that originally?" the blending and the cutting between the foreground and the background is suberd and the contrast is perfect (the darks aren't to dark and the lights aren't to light) And let me just tell you I went 'awww' out loud when I saw the last icon ^u^ I love the composition, the colors, and the typography as well as the textures ♥ (also honorable mention to icons 3 and 4 they were super sweet as well)

okay I'm gonna skip to the third one first because omg it's so beautiful in an understated way I mean look at it the greens are so soft, and the lighting is just right and the texture is integrated into this so wonderfully like wow I'm in love. The first icon is super inspiring as well, I love the texture and the typography, as well as the composition. And this might be because I'm on a giant Sailor Moon kick, but I love everything about the second icon. All of your SM icons are so gorgeous you have no idea how much I love them. The colors on this on are perfectly vibrant, but not too "In your face" the typography is super awesome as well the 'S' and the 'V' stand out to me first and then I look close and read 'Sailor V' it's just amazing

let me just sart out with how much I love your icons like wow everything is so perfectly colored. I love the colors and the grunge-y ness of the first one. I love how you stuck to the rainbow theme but it's kind of unconventional as well because it's muted not vibrant. I also love the typography, and how all of the colors tie in perfectly. I adore the soft coloring of the second one, and the composition and the text work is pretty on spot as well. And back to pretty colors and composition ♥ the third one is so prtety and simply yet complex at the same time I love the composition as well ^^

As stated before, purples and reds are always so hard for me to work with, but you too made it look effortless ^^ I love how the coloring is soft and muted but vibrant at the same time, as well as how the text has that cool drippy effect in addition to being totally spot on typography. I love the simplicity and the composition of the second icon. The b/w is executed perfectly and the textures you used look fantastic. The third icon is so pretty?? like wow how did you do everything the text is so perfect and the cutout blends perfectly with the background and the coloring is fantastic ♥

I love the blocking and all the colors in your first one and how you used the text it's so simple yet so complex a the same time. The colors and lighting are pretty too ♥ and I still need to finish this anime orz I like to refer to the second one as "katy why" it's second title is "I cry myself to sleep" I love love love this icon so much when I first saw it I went "Oh... " outloud it's so pretty the textwork and the colors and the blending are all so amazing it's making me want to go icon more of ZNT tbh and this third one?? like how do you get your text to work with you and your oranges and yellows are always just the perfect amount of vibrant?? I love the composition as well ^^ (honorable mention to icons 4, 5, and 6)
